Silva Noire

Silvia Noire (Jaén, 1988) was born in the very core of southern Spain, where she started drawing before she can remember. Throughout the years, she developed a whole universe of mystic creatures and gave them the human capabilities of feeling and communicating. Her goal was to build up a dialogue between humans –mostly women- and these creatures. Her drawings tell us complex and often surreal stories –in both senses of onirism when it comes to her technic and automatism on the way her drawings organically develop; but after the first look, the beauty of the shapes and the faces lead to a deeper reflexion where we interpret the story to give it our own meaning. Silvia gives us the pieces, we build up the story. She uses a broad range of political and feminist reminiscences to rip out all that is bad and repulsive about humans: racism, sexism, numbness towards nature and animals. Only through this exorcism human beings and nature can dialogue in the same terms, as different organisms from the same living thing. Her drawings and illustrations have been shown on different exhibitions in Spain, as well as on publications from political fanzines and magazines to fairy tales and poetry books. She lives and works in Cologne.
